Farewell to 2024 and looking forward to 2025

WELCOMING THE CIRCUS LIVING

Early on in the year we opened The Circus Living in a brand new building close to the Spree river. This has been a new challenge for us, as the guests in our premium serviced micro-apartments are usually here for a month or longer as they work, study or spend extended time in the city. 

It has been wonderful to be a part of the Berlin story for many of them – helping with all the bits and pieces that are needed to make this fantastic city a home. And it will be hard to forget watching the European Championships up on the rooftop, as fans from across the continent and around the world joined us for the big matches.

Indeed, being a small part of Germany’s hosting of the summer football tournament was a lot of fun. We had the privilege to welcome the world to The Circus and Berlin back in 2006 for the World Cup, and it was great to do it all over again. We were pleasantly surprised by the performance of the German team, and thought that Spain were worthy winners… even if Jim might not completely agree. 

NEW AT THE CIRCUS

This year also saw us launch our new range of Signature Rooms across The Circus Hotel, Hostel and Apartments. These special spaces have their own unique style and atmosphere, with added details to make them one of a kind. Fancy your own writing space in The Circus Hotel? We also completed our re-design of the roof terrace at The Circus Hotel, and it is just one of the stunning spaces across all our houses where you can take in the city skyline. Alongside the hotel roof terrace with honesty bar (which you can also rent privately), we have panorama studios at The Circus Hostel and our penthouse with roof terrace at The Circus Apartments. What else? We added a new laundry room in The Circus Apartments to keep you all sparkling fresh, and our events and community manager Carmen kicked off a whole range of new events and activities this year, including our daily Hostel Hangouts. Highlights have included the Berlin Club Talk, our Christmas Market and Späti tours, but we promise that whenever you visit, Carmen will have something great for you to join in with. 

And for those of you who like to keep The Circus with you at all times, we also launched The Circus App! Available for Apple and Android devices, The Circus App is where you can keep up to date with all our services and activities, as well as find the best tips and information for your stay in Berlin, from staff recommendations for restaurants, bars and clubs, to travel information and more.

LOOKING FORWARD TO 2025

Things never stay still for long at The Circus. We have two new exciting food and drink partners who will be helping us keep you fed and watered at The Circus Hotel and Hostel in the New Year. More details will be announced very soon, so watch this space, but we can tell you that we are very excited and that you are in for some yummy treats.

Meanwhile, away to the south where the sun is (slightly) more likely to shine, we are working hard on The Circus Retreat in Italy. Housed in the 600-year old Castello Santa Maria, in Civitella d’Agliano, 90 kilometres north of Rome, The Circus Retreat will have 28 spacious and well-appointed guest rooms, duplex suites and villas. Our restaurant will use the best ingredients Lazio and Umbria have to offer, and there will be wellness facilities, a gym and private spa, pool and stunning views over the Italian countryside.

You’ll be hearing a lot more about our Italian adventure in the weeks and months to come, but for now we’d like to raise a toast to the year that’s gone, look forward to the year to come, and send our love and best wishes to The Circus Family, wherever you might be as you read these words…
