Happy New Year – 2024 in Berlin and at The Circus

As we write these words we are coming to the last few hours of 2023 – and what a year it has been! We’ve been so happy to welcome so many people from around the world to The Circus Hotel, Hostel and Apartments, sharing our home city with our guests and giving them the chance to experience all the different sides that Berlin has to offer.

But while we’ve been working hard on a day to day basis, we’ve also been putting plans in place for 2024 – and it promises to be another incredible year. The biggest news is that we will be opening The Circus Living in February, while getting our hands on the keys for our Castello in Italy (watch this space!).

There is so much going on at The Circus and in Berlin over the next twelve months that we thought we’d bring it all together in one place… so read and find out what we’re looking forward to the most.

THE CIRCUS LIVING – OPEN FEBRUARY 2024

In February we will be welcoming the first guests to The Circus Living, the fourth member of The Circus Group and something a little different for us. The Circus Living offers premium serviced micro apartments for stays of over 28 days in the heart of Berlin’s new creative and commercial district by the River Spree.

The apartments include a fully equipped kitchen, high-speed internet, comfortable bathrooms with under-floor heating, and the 24/7 concierge service is always available to help, whether it’s organising transport, taking delivery of mail or helping work through the demands of German bureaucracy. The Circus Living also has a cafe and co-working spaces, and we are sure people are going to love their new home in Berlin… so come live with us!

WHAT’S NEW AT THE CIRCUS HOTEL, HOSTEL & APARTMENTS?

Things don’t stand still at The Circus Hotel, Hostel and Apartments either. This coming year will see the introduction of new signature rooms across all three houses, something we are very excited about. We will be bringing the next generation of dorm beds to the hostel, a renovated roof terrace in the hotel and a funky new laundrette for the apartments. WHAT’S ON IN BERLIN IN 2024?

There’s so much to look forward to in Berlin in 2024, so we’ve had to pick some of our favourites, starting with our friends and partners. In January it is time for SEEK, the number one fashion fair for streetwear and urbanwear. January will also see a guest series at the brilliant Chamäleon Theater Berlin before the world premiere in February of their new contemporary circus performance, Showdown. Also in January we are really looking forward to the British Shorts Festival and a week of short film screenings across the city. We’ll have more on this here on the blog in the next week or so.

Later in the year we are also really excited about Berlin Art Week, and the different exhibitions and performances taking place across the city. With our name, it’s not surprising that we are also great fans and supporters of the Berlin Circus Festival, which will have its 11th edition in 2024. And there is more to look forward to for film fans with Interfilm in the autumn, bringing more than 300 short films to Berlin from over 60 different countries.

SPORT IN BERLIN IN 2024

For sports fans, 2024 is shaping up to be a great year. In the next few weeks we have the European Handball Championships in Berlin and elsewhere in Germany, as well as the annual Six-Day Cycling Race and the ISTAF Indoor Athletics meet. Of course, in the summer all eyes will be on Germany for the UEFA EURO 2024 – the European football championships. We’ve put together our own special mini-guide for the event which you can read on our blog here.

We’re also looking forward to welcoming runners for the Berlin Half Marathon in April and the world famous Berlin Marathon in September – if you are running or cheering for either of those events we’d recommend booking your stay soon!

MORE BERLIN EVENTS FOR 2024

If you are still looking for travel inspiration and reasons to come join us in Berlin, there are any number of great events taking place throughout the year. The year kicks off with the Transmediale festival of digital art and culture, with exhibitions and events also taking place throughout the year. The Berlinale in February is one of the world’s premier film festivals, and attracts filmmakers, actors and audiences from across the globe.

In May, thousands of performers take to the streets for the Karneval der Kulturen, with a street festival over four days culminating in the legendary parade, while in July, Pride is in the air for the Christopher Street Day parade, with accompanying events and parties across the city. Summer in Berlin is the time for the beer garden and the lakes, although the Long Night of the Museums in August is always an annual favourite.

And soon we’ll be getting ready for the weather to change and the illuminating Festival of Lights in autumn before it will be time to head into town for a glühwein at the Christmas Market. These are just some of the many, many things we are looking forward to in Berlin this year… so why not come and join us? As always, we love to share our city with you.
