Happy New Year

Highlights of 2025 and looking forward to 2026

THE CIRCUS

What a year it has been

As we approach the biggest party of the year in Berlin, we thought we would take a moment to look back at the twelve months that have gone and what we are excited about for the year ahead. In many ways, 2025 has been a challenging year, but more than anything we are delighted to have welcomed so many people to our wonderful city, whether in the Circus Hostel, The Circus Hotel and The Circus Apartments.

Over the year we welcomed over 33,000 travellers, families or groups, from more than 150 different countries. We hosted over 350 events, from tours to pilates in the park, went go-cart racing and llama walking with our staff, and waved at the TV Tower countless times from the roof terraces of the Hotel, Hostel and Apartment house. If we didn’t see you this year, we hope we get the chance to welcome you to Berlin in 2026.

What’s been happening at The Circus?

Over the past year we have made a number of different changes across the three houses on Rosenthaler Platz. We have added new room categories in the hostel, including female dorms and private dorms (with ensuite bathrooms). We have also welcomed Rosie’s as our cafe partner on the ground floor, to continue the great work they had already begun down in the basement bar.

In the hotel we were delighted to have Lost My Voice as our new breakfast partner, and to enjoy their Sunday brunch sessions and evening bistro menu. And for our guests who perhaps spent too much time enjoying the great cocktails and other drinks, it was handy that we launched a new cooperation with our neighbourhood gym EVO.

Over at The Circus Apartments we worked together with our long-term design partners Loeser&Bettels to create a new lobby with a snack buffet, to make sure our guests get the best welcome to Berlin. Behind the scenes we also got a new office design.

As always, we welcomed many new faces to the Circus team and we have said goodbye to some long-term members of the crew. The list of people who have worked with us over the past three decades is long, and we are oh so grateful to everyone who has been part of our journey and helped make The Circus what it is today.

Our social projects

As always, we have been supporting social and charity projects this year, chosen through connections to our team.

In 2025, to mark 30 years since the horrific events of Srebrenica, we supported our friends at House of Good Tones to help children and youth from the Srebrenica region have access to high-quality educational, cultural and entertainment programmes. We raised €4.000 to start a music and critical thinking project for children from rural areas, particularly those in around Srebrenica.

Our next project takes us to the foothills of the Himalayas (Dehradun/ Uttarakhand). It happens to be the hometown of our wonderful colleague Sugandha who has worked at the Circus for over 3 years and helped the kids there for many years. Koshish Family caters for 80-120 kids seven days a week helping them to achieve better opportunities for the future. With your help the Circus is raising €3.000 for essential computer equipment to give the scholars the best start.

What do we have planned for 2026?

The coming year marks 25 years since we opened The Circus Hostel on Weinbergsweg, and we will be marking a quarter of a century on Rosenthaler Platz with some celebrations later in the year. Watch this space!

We have some great new events and activities planned from Carmen and her team, and we are working on some new ways to share the best of Berlin with our guests and help you all make the most of your time in the city.

And if you need a reason to come and visit us over the next year, we’ve put together some of our highlights for 2026 on The Circus Blog. Remember: always book directly with us for the best price.
