Apartment layout and access

Is the apartment building entrance accessible?

Yes, the apartment entrance is step-free with a door width of at least 80cm.

Can I move around the apartments easily?

All rooms are accessible via level thresholds (maximum 2cm)
There is adequate space for wheelchair movement in living areas
The bedroom is accessible with space around the bed
Furniture is arranged to allow wheelchair access

Is there outdoor space?

There is a small step to the balcony/terrace space in each apartment.

Kitchen facilities

Are the kitchen work surfaces accessible?

No, the counter height is 90cm, which is higher than the ideal accessible height of 80-85cm.

Which appliances can I access?

Fridge: Accessible
Oven: Accessible
Microwave: Not accessible
Freezer: Not accessible

Are storage areas accessible?

Some cupboards and shelves are within reach (40-140cm height range).

Can I use the kitchen sink?

The sink does not have knee space underneath for wheelchair access.

Are the cooking facilities accessible?

Hob controls are accessible and clearly marked.

Bathrooms

Is the bathroom door wide enough?

No, the bathroom door is only 70cm wide (below the 80cm minimum requirement for wheelchair access).

Is there an accessible shower?

No, there is not a walk-in shower with minimal threshold.

Are there grab rails in the bathroom?

No grab rails are currently installed in the shower or beside the toilet, but a grab rail can be installed in the bathtub if needed.

Is the washbasin accessible?

The washbasin is wheelchair accessible at 85cm height.

Is there space around the toilet?

No, there is not adequate space beside the toilet for transfer.

Are the mirrors positioned for wheelchair users?

No, mirrors are not positioned for use from a seated position.

Living areas

Are the living areas accessible?

Yes:

Furniture is arranged to allow wheelchair access
There are seating options at appropriate heights
Light switches and controls are at accessible heights
Window controls and blinds are accessible

Are entertainment systems accessible?

For wheelchair users the TV and audio controls are accessible, but for other guests it will depend on their needs.

Common areas

Is the reception desk accessible?

Yes, there is a lowered section of the reception desk (maximum 80cm height).

Can I access all floors?

Yes, we have an accessible elevator with:

Doors at least 80cm wide
Cabin minimum 110cm x 140cm
Maximum weight capacity: 630kg

Are there accessible social spaces?

The Erchy’s cafe on the ground floor is accessible with appropriate table heights and space.

Are there accessible public toilets on the ground floor?

There are accessible public toilets on the ground floor in the Erchy’s cafe.

Are emergency exits accessible?

Emergency exits are clearly marked and accessible.

Services and support

Is your staff trained in accessibility awareness?

Staff training in accessibility awareness is not yet complete.

Can staff provide assistance when needed?

Our reception is staffed from 07:00 to 21:00. Outside of these hours, assistance is available via the 24-hour reception of The Circus Hotel and The Circus Hostel (five minutes away).

Is accessibility information available when booking?

We are currently working on making accessibility information clearly available during the booking process.

Getting to The Circus Apartments

What parking options are available?

Our underground parking garage has elevator access to the ground floor.

What public transport options are accessible?

The Circus Apartments is five minutes from two underground stations. Both the U8 at Rosenthaler Platz and the U2 at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz have elevator access from the platform to the street.

The tram at Rosenather Platz has a level platform entry/exit. Tram drivers can also assist via a dedicated call button.
