Roaring 20’s Queer & Cabaret Berlin TOUR

6. December 2024 @ 10:15 - 13:00

Step back in time with a journey through the vibrant queer scene of Berlin in the 1920s, as seen through the eyes of Christopher Isherwood; a resident of Berlin during the Roaring 20’s, and the author of Goodbye to Berlin – the book that inspired Cabaret.

While Berlin is often known for its darker history — the Second World War and the Cold War era — the Roaring Twenties were a very different chapter. It was a time when a city in the midst of anarchy became a centre for nightlife, media, and creative freedom, shaping entertainment culture in ways that still resonate today.

Explore the historic Nollendorfplatz, Berlin’s LGBTQ* district, as our guide and author Brendan Nash shares stories of queer bars, drag and cabaret performers, and the people who built a scene that was ahead of its time. Berlin has gone through many changes, but it has long been a place where creatives, outsiders, and those looking for something different found space to exist.

We also reccomend a visit to the Berlin Schwules Museum nearby, to soak up more of the city’s queer culture and history after the tour.
