Our exclusive collection of Rosenthaler Platz short stories are written and performed by the Berlin author Paul Scraton. The tale you are about to hear is set in 1931, a time of crisis and constant flux in the city, when one thing Berliners could rely on was their neighbourhood branch of Aschinger’s (in today’s St Oberholz on the corner opposite the hotel) a gastronomic palace for the people serving cheap beers, mountains of bread rolls and hearty pea soup…
