Stories from the Square #5

Our exclusive collection of Rosenthaler Platz short stories are written and performed by the Berlin author Paul Scraton. The tale you are about to hear is set in 1977. Rosenthaler Platz was in the eastern half of the city, and this story tells of the disconnect between rhetoric and reality in the German Democratic Republic, from the vantage point of a rooftop above the square and a view of the famous TV Tower.
